Not struggling with infertility?
You HAVE still LANDED in
the RIGHT PLACE…
Compassionate Inquiry and Positive Psychology
for Men and Women on the path of healing and growth
Working together, it will be about you.
But to get acquainted, here’s a bit about me.
Growing up in a small Flemish town, I dreamt of moving to New York City, building a new life and finding success in a fulfilling career.
And I succeeded. But while I flourished in my career, my childhood trauma had made it impossible to truly thrive. Every time life would throw me an inevitable curveball, it would activate the same old coping mechanisms from childhood. A complicated relationship and 9/11, followed by the untimely death of my younger sister got me into talk therapy—and I subsequently tried every form of therapy under the sun.
Over the ensuing years, I worked hard to find stability and contentment. When I met my husband in 2015, I was ready to begin the next phase of life and have a child. But when nature didn’t take its course, my husband and I began fertility treatments.
Years earlier, in the midst of my infertility odyssey, I’d begun training with world-renowned Canadian physician and trauma specialist Dr. Gabor Maté in his psychotherapeutic approach called Compassionate Inquiry. At the same time, I was working on my diploma in Positive Psychology, an approach that focuses on our innate strengths.
While the self-development work I’d done over the prior decade had been very helpful, understanding all of my trauma through the lens of Compassionate Inquiry © and Positive Psychology was truly transformative. Finally, I had found solace in spite of my infertility and I learned to live my life more calmly and authentically. The tools and skills I picked up along the way ensure I can guide my clients to a more meaningful life, one that is enriched with authentic feelings and connections, which we are ultimately designed for.
Now, WHAT is
COMPASSIONATE INQUIRY?
“The purpose of Compassionate Inquiry is to drill down to the core stories
people tell themselves- to get them to see the story they are telling
themselves unconsciously; what those beliefs are, where they came from;
and guide them to the possibility of letting go
of those stories, or letting go of the hold those old stories have on them…”
– Dr Gabor Maté, bestselling author and founder of Compassionate Inquiry
What to expect in a session?
“In a Compassionate Inquiry session, the therapist doesn’t try to be ‘someone’ to his/her client; instead of advising, fixing or teaching, what is offered is presence, compassion, curiosity and attention. Similarly, the client doesn’t have to demonstrate anything to the therapist or fit into his or her preconceptions or expectations. When they are equal in that shared space, a profound exchange happens which leads to transformation. It is something beautiful, magical and a privilege to witness.”
-Sat Dharam, co-founder of Compassionate Inquiry
And, what about Positive Psychology?
In the founding father’s own words, Martin Seligman, American psychologist, educator and author…
“So Positive Psychology takes seriously the bright hope that if you find yourself stuck in the parking lot of life, with few and only ephemeral pleasures, with minimal gratifications, and without meaning, there is a road out. This road takes you through the countryside of pleasure and gratification, up into the high country of strength and virtue, and finally to the peaks of lasting fulfillment: meaning and purpose.”
